Montmartre
The village on the hill, minus the crowds, plus the shortcuts

Climb the one hill in Paris that never quite agreed to become part of the city. Monks grew wine up here for centuries, a rabbit painted on a saucepan gave a cabaret its name, Renoir chased a dance hall he could see from his window, and Picasso mourned his best friend so hard it changed the colour of his paintings. A loop from the Moulin Rouge to the last real windmill on the Butte.
